With Gaiman on writing duty and the return of one of the shows most iconic villains, the episode looks set to be on of the highest points of the second half of season 7, and it's even attracted some stellar actors to bring it to life.

Along with Matt Smith and his latest companion, Jenna Louise-Coleman, Gaiman's instalment will see the aforementioned misfits played by Warwick Davis (Life's Too Short), Tamzin Outhwaite (EastEnders) and Jason Watkins (Being Human).
We. Are. Excited.

BIG NAME DIRECTORS FOR DOCTOR WHO?

Lord of the Rings maestro, Peter Jackson and Looper director, Rian Johnson   have both expressed a keen interest in taking on an episode of Doctor Who.

Jackson, who is currently busy filming The Hobbit trilogy with seventh Doctor Sylvester McCoy, told the Waikato Times "I'm a huge Doctor Who fan, and I think Matt [Smith]'s fantastic. Just name a time and a place, and I'll be there."

Jackson's comments come from recent rumours about Doctor Who filming an episode in New Zealand.

Rian Johnson whose new film Looper has just been released is also up for the challenge. Johnson was talking to fans in a recent interview on Reddit.

"What I'd really like to try, although it would be terrifying because I'm such a big fan of it? Doctor Who."

Only time will tell if either of these two filmmakers will get their chance. Personally, we hope they do. Watch this space for more!

MATT SMITH ON WHO 50TH

DOCTOR WHO celebrates its 50th anniversary next year and current Doctor, Matt Smith, has recently spoken to Digital Spy about the magnitude of the event.

"It will be one of the biggest events that we've ever done... it has to be" said Smith.

When asked if he knew what Doctor Who showrunner Steven Moffat had planned, Smith replied "not a lot as always I'm afraid - I know I'll be involved somehow."

The Moff was also questioned about the anniversary by the Digital Spy team although his response raised more questions than it answered.

"It's going to be huge but y'know we've got an awful lot of stuff to announce before that - so... patience" he said.

Clearly there are some big things coming our way in 2013 and we are expecting information to be coming our way on a daily basis.

November 23rd 2013 can't come soon enough!
